Writer's Resources: Music and Writing
On March 18, 2017 | 0 Comments

Have you ever wondered what some of your favorite authors like to do for inspiration or how they get themselves into the right mindset to write certain scenes?  Well, I can’t answer for them but I can tell you what I do.  I listen to music.  This year for Christmas one of my best friends bought me an Echo Dot and I love it!  One of the things that you can do with the Echo Dot is have it play all sorts of music.  But I don’t ask it to play just any ole’ music, I ask it to play my very own Writing Playlist!  While I’m writing, I don’t want a lot of distractions so I choose songs that don’t have a lot, if any, lyrics.  One of my favorite artists I like to listen to is Two Steps From Hell.  Their music is epic!  Their Wikipedia page states:

Two Steps from Hell is an American production music company based in Los Angeles, California, founded by Thomas J. Bergersen and Nick Phoenix in 2006. The company focuses predominantly on movie and trailer music and has supplied tracks to films such as Harry PotterPirates of the Caribbean, and X-Men.”

Their music is perfect to listen to whether I’m working or just planning my writing and I picture the scenes in my head as if they were from a movie.  I don’t always write every scene that I imagine, but it does fuel my inspiration and put me in the right frame of mind to be creative.  If you have Amazon Music and you’re curious about what type of music I listen to while writing, or just curious about Two Steps From Hell, you can check out my playlist HERE.  I’m not 100% sure this will work so if it doesn’t, I apologize.  There are other artists and songs in there as well so I hope you enjoy if you get a chance to check it out!

And don’t forget there is only a short time left to download Shadow Born: Book 1 of the Shadow-Borne Chronicles for FREE!  If you enjoy the book please leave a review and let others know.  You can also pick up The Dead of Night: Book 2 of the Shadow-Borne Chronicles for only $2.99.
